Temporary working capital

Arch stumbles upon a mother and daughter traveling by scooter

We have seen arches placed in the road during processions or functions in different parts of the country. One of these arches caused an accident in the capital of Kerala. The ark fell on a mother and her daughter who were traveling on a scooter. Video of the accident has now surfaced online and police have now registered a case and an investigation has been launched. The mother who was driving the scooter at the time of the accident suffered head, lung and neck injuries.

The accident was recorded in a CCTV placed near the place where the accident occurred. The accident actually happened, during the dismantling of the temporary arch. It is clearly visible in the video that the workers removing the arch covering the road were not properly coordinated. The arch was placed as part of an annual club celebration in the Neyyattinkara area of Trivandrum. When the workers were removing the ark, there were vehicles on the road and they continued to dismantle the ark without taking any precautions.

Traffic was not blocked and they were knocking down the whole arch at once and not in pieces. The workers simply untied the rope to bring the arch to the ground. By then Lekha and her daughter were crossing the road and by the time they realized the ark was falling, it was too late. Lekha couldn’t stop the scooter in time and Ark fell on the scooter and the two fell.

Lekha works as a nurse at the primary health center and she suffered several injuries. She was injured in the face, neck and even in the lungs. Lekha even had to undergo surgery for her face. The 15-year-old girl suffered internal injuries. Reports suggest that after the accident, Lekha and her daughter were lying on the road and the people who gathered around them didn’t even bother to take them to the hospital. It was only after her husband took them to the hospital after arriving there.

Placing an arch over the road that would create problems for road users in the form of traffic jams or distractions has been banned by a court in Kerala. Even after the court hearing, these incidents still occur in many parts of the state. Lekha’s husband also mentioned that the Neyyattinkara police refused to register a case against the people who were actually the cause of the accident. It was only after the video of the accident went viral on the internet that the police decided to intervene. When dismantling such heavy and huge structures, it is always a good idea to temporarily block traffic to ensure that there are no accidents. Using a crane to lift such structures to clear the road as quickly as possible is also a good idea.
